The conservation work in Vietnam Fine Arts Museum
As
a national museum with 40 years of development, Vietnam Fine Arts Museum
has a great number of fine arts objects which are diversified in genre
and media. Therefore, conservation, restoration for the objects are of
the top priority task of the Museum. This has received appropriate
consideration of the Museum’s leaders.
The objects, either on the exhibition or in the store, receive
maintenance according to regulations on conservation as follows:
Preventive
conservation to protect the objects from the outer factor like
temperature, humidity, light, insects… A satisfactory control and care
is paid over the display method, storing position and transportation of
the objects.
Treatment
conservation: to prevent deterioration of the objects by direct
treatment on them. The major conservation works include:
+ Consolidating a vulnerable object
+ Adhering and fixing a broken piece of an object
+ Remove dust, insect, other producs which is harmful to an object
Restoration
: To facilitate the research on object with the technique of direct
touching to the object without affecting its material, originality fine
arts characteristic. The restoration works include:
+ Renewing the auxiliary back of silk or paper paintings
+ Remove the old unsatisfied constructing materials
+ Retouch paint losses on oil painting.
With the view to enhance the conservation work , Vietnam Fine Arts
Museum has been cooperating with local and foreign organizations,
museums, universities to train experts on conservation for different
media like silk, oil, paper.
